Silent Love

I knew it then , for I could tell .
Twas Silent Love in which I fell .

A painful choice for Heaven's sake .
And one no man would like to make .

But I was torn in part , you see .
By beauty , charm , and destiny .

I gathered up and off I went .
As if compelled to my torment .

And greeting there , my love confessed .
I made a simple child's request .

But thinking now of her and me ,
I guess it was as meant to be .

A love the angels sing in song .
It's in such love I do belong .

A timeless chord from up above .
A sanctified and Silent Love .

A Place Beside A River

There's a place beside a river
That you might know as well .
On the banks we call contentment
Near the place where lovers dwell .

It's not so far from Heaven .
Though it's not quite that , you see .
There must be a place for lonely
And their dreams that used to be .

It's a place to leave our sorrow .
And a place to not regret .
A place that gives us pleasure
In our sadness even yet .

Though our memories often linger
And our dreams may come and go ,
The place beside the river
Is a place that we should know .

So , if by chance , you see me there
In a memory or a dream .
You'll know I've found contentment
In the water of the stream .

An Angel Flight

Not long ago I saw her ,
As in her younger days .
She sat upon the fresh green grass
As I could only gaze .

She clasped her hands together
As they rocked to and fro ,
The whitest things I ever saw;
Her angel wings , you know .

Gleaming with her smiling eyes ,
A look I so adore .
In doing so , she warmed my heart .
The way she did before .

She spoke not a single word .
Nor did I wish her to .
For she was , well , just as she was ;
The girl I'd loved so true .

Placing them upon the grass,
And patting it with care ,
Her hands sure meant for me to come
And take my place right there .

Seeing how I looked at her ,
She gave a pleasant sigh .
Then shook her head and smiled again ,
This apple of my eye .

Sitting there , she kissed my cheek
And my heart skipped a beat .
Just as it had before , when I
Had placed it at her feet .

Then she stood, and I got up
As if I had no weight .
I don't believe on earth we feel
A love so warm and great .

Slowly , as we left the ground ,
Her wings spread left and right .
I somehow threw away the fears
I always had of flight .

Firmly now , in her embrace ,
We up and flew away .
Whatever doubts or fears I had ,
Just disappeared that day .

As we drifted on the breeze
That blows through Heaven's skies;
I doubt if you have known such joy,
Or seen such through your eyes .

We flew not so far away,
But just around the bend .
I guess she knew that this was not
The day my life would end .

When she flew me back to earth ,
I guess it took awhile ;
For me to speak and voice my thanks
To her , and it , her smile .

Then it happened once again ,
The thing that angels do .
She promised to return someday ,
The day my life is through .

As she spread her wings again
And gently left in mirth ,
I wondered at this girl I'd known
And loved so much , on earth

Autumn Love

I met her in the autumn ;
When such are found , you know .
She said , 'In all her glory .'
Though joking , oh how so !

So true , I did inform her .
But then , to no surprise .
Such things are never certain
In autumn's paradise .

An autumn love , so firmly ,
May grasp a loving heart ;
It still may seem together ,
Though broken from the start .

Through autumn , when it found me .
Through winter's frozen years .
Such love alive in springtime ,
Brings forth a rain of tears .

That's why the loves of autumn
Display a special trait .
The heartbreak , comes much sooner .
The love ends , much too late .

For young love , it's more tragic .
Although it's torn apart ,
The yearning never ceases
Around a virgin heart .

So when the tears of springtime
Give way and summer looms ;
The autumn love , once tempting ,
Ignores the soul it dooms .

And then , the autumn comes again
For young loves one and all .
Changing then , its name once more ,
From autumn to the fall .

A Roundtable Tale

Arthur didn't see it ,
His back was to the sky .
They looked to the Heavens ,
Expecting then to die .

Arthur heard the shuffle ,
Looked up and turned around .
By the time he saw it ,
The spaceship hit the ground .

Gigantic can't describe
The ship's great size and scope .
Crashing there before them ,
They surely had no hope .

Force applied at impact
Was equal to a quake .
This was it, they figured .
They ducked down in its wake .

Suddenly , they saw them
Just flashing through the sky .
Four and twenty dragons .
Oh boy , how they could fly !

Then they felt a grasping .
How dragon claws can bend !
Following soon after ,
They felt the forceful wind .

They were their salvation ,
And carried them away
From the flames and wreckage
The spaceship brought that day .

Merlin and King Arthur ,
Two knights and twenty more
Gathered round a table
A tale not told before .

This one of the dragons
Heeding ole Merlin's call .
Saving them from spaceships
Whenever they might fall .

Yes , a tale remembered .
One told for many years .
One often forgotten
But true , it now appears .

You might have a question ,
The modern ones like you .
What becomes of spaceships
That fall out of the blue ?

Not as complicated ,
Though some might think it so .
Eating little bodies
Are dragon things , you know .

As for all the hardware .
They flew all that away .
The dragons dropped it all
Into Loch Ness , they say .

But if you still may doubt
The tale that I have told ,
Go and see the marker
That Arthur made so bold .

Marking where the dragons
Plucked Arthur up that day .
Where they grabbed ole Merlin
And flew him quick away .

Now you know the story ,
One unknown answered here .
Stonehenge is the marker
That Arthur made that year .

Borrowed Words

I'm waiting here for someone .
Just who , I couldn't say .
She's bringing my contentment .
True love , I guess , someday .

I may just wait forever .
Again , this one last time .
It's then , I shall endeavor
To put our love in rhyme .

By then , if I've forgotten
Expressions lovers say ;
I thought that I'd just borrow
From those I wrote today .

That's why I don't mind waiting .
I've got more time you see ,
To think of things more charming
To say when love's with me .

It's then , when I'm contented
And know not what to say .
I'll be so glad I waited
And wrote of love this day .

So let me write my love words
To one I do not know .
Though someday , they'll be borrowed ,
These words wrote long ago .
