The Universe

The ship moves on without a sail
Or rudder as its guide.
The oozing mass of living things
Escaping from each side.

'The Universe' is bound for home
Without its mortal crew.
Or anything it journeyed for,
Its mission over due.

We see it as it nears it's home
With sparkling watered eyes.
It must have been a hellish thing
That happened to those guys.

As men endeavor to explore
Sometimes I question why.
It's best they never see such things
As this go passing by.

It must be Heaven's plan for us
To see before we die,
How man's pursuit of unknown things
Can often go awry.

If so, I've learned my lesson well.
Though man, I fear, has not.
What evil things were done this time?
What spectacle we've wrought!

We'll take our pictures, every one,
So they can see it all.
The tortured mass of living things.
No doubt, from Hell's spring ball.

When we're through, a braver soul
Than me will go on board.
And place a charge of fireworks
Somewhere in evil's hoard.

And then the ship, ' The Universe, '
The pride of man's great fleet;
Will turn into a flaming Hell,
A sign of man's conceit.

Then I will say a prayer to God
For all the souls on board.
'The Universe' and my own ship,
And worlds not yet explored.

When fooling with the genes of life
We'd better heed these words.
Sometimes it doesn't blend so well.
It sticks, and turns to curds.

The pictures will explain it all.
I pray they'll be revealed.
So man will cease pursuing things
That God so well concealed.

If man derives from anything
'The Universe' displayed.
Then he has one true destiny.
A Hell that he has made.

And if I'm there to see it through,
This destiny of man.
I'll hold the torch of Heaven's fire
And burn them if I can.

So let us pray that men will yield
To God this human curse.
Exemplified by what he made.
This ship, 'The Universe.'

Young Love

They hugged and made each other.
They kissed and saw the stars.
They wondered if they did it
On Jupiter and Mars.

They stroked and grazed the meadow
Of each one's sacred place.
They looked and saw the pleasure
Expressed on each one's face.

They held each other gently,
But firmly high and low.
Joyful at discovering
The things they didn't know.

Then, when their senses flourished,
Relieving them of shame;
They found in each such passion,
They trembled, each in flame.

They fell and looked much deeper
Into their loving souls.
They found in each, fine treasures.
And thought, their cherished goals.

They, each one, answered truly.
No lies can thus be told.
They planned, right then to marry;
Before their love turned cold.

As young love has such pleasures,
And not much grief or pain;
No wonder then, young lovers,
Repeat them once again.

The mistakes garnered falsely
From passion's sizzling fire.
But come to see much later,
Such loves may soon expire.

It ever was, as stated.
A passions overflow,
That makes young love look foolish
In retrospective glow.

But while, it's then, in season;
It cannot be ignored.
Young Love is living's treasured gift
Of joys yet unexplored.

Eternally Together

As flowers bloom in springtime
To garland nature's glow ,
I know you now remember
Such beauty long ago .

And you must hear the music
Around our favorite song .
Calling back our memories
We've held for oh so long .

For as you might remember
They always came in rhyme ,
The links that held together
Our love for all this time .

Our love theme song , 'Forever',
Compelled a warm embrace .
And humming love between us
Charmed both our souls with grace .

A tear-stained love embittered ,
Was never ours, and thus ;
No rhymes of love concluded
Were ever penned by us .

We parted just like strangers ,
Who meet while passing by .
We knew and loved each other ,
And neither was a lie .

Foretold by us that springtime ,
We'd meet again someday ;
Now , having done our duty ,
Prediction has its way .

For now, we've come full circle .
It's springtime once again .
I think I hear our love song ,
Just as I did back then .

I know you now remember ,
A smile is on your face .
A brilliance seen that springtime
That time just can't erase .

So now , by our endeavor ,
We'll have our one last fling .
Eternally Together ,
Resumed once more in spring .

Gremlin

'Where have you been? ', I said to her ,
'I've missed your loving song .'
'Over the hill, ' she said to me ,
'For that's where I belong .'

'Tis not so true, ' said I to her ,
'You should be here with me .
I need your love more than before ,
I'm crying , don't you see ? '

'I know, ' she said , ' I see your tears ,
And Heaven sees them too .
And that is why they sent for me
To come and comfort you .'

'I'm sorry , if I called you back , '
I said , ' It's not been long .
It's just that I have missed so much
Your love since you've been gone .'

'I know, ' she said , ' It's much too much
For some , this grief and pain .
But death is part of life , you see ,
So how can we complain ? '

'You really must get over me ,
You've more of life to live .
It's time you let your spirit rest ,
You must yourself, forgive .'

'I know, ' I said, 'Your words are true ,
I'll do just as you say .
But can I tell you once again
I'm sorry for that day ? '

'Of course you can, ' she said to me ,
'I always understood,
I would have told you, go ahead ,
If say the words , I could .'

I said, ' How good to hear your voice
And see you once again . '
She said that now she had to leave ,
To not return again .

I asked her if we'd ever meet
And talk again someday .
She said, ' It's bound to happen.....as
It's always Heaven's way .'

So off she went on up the hill ,
Then stopped and looked once more .
She raised her paw and waved goodbye
Then faded , nevermore .

I dried my tears then went to bed .
But now , without regret .
For I had spent some time with her ,
The cat I can't forget .

Sojourn

The music lingered soft and low .
I barely heard it play .
This was how I liked it now ,
The mode I chose each day .

I just reclined my favorite chair
And closed my eyes to rest .
The mode was sure to make me sleep ,
My hands across my chest .

Soon I drifted far away ,
It must have been quite deep .
It sure seemed just as real to me ,
This strange and storied sleep .

I found myself there once again ,
A place of long ago .
With all the ones I knew quite well ,
I'd often wished it so .

There they were with me at school ,
Just playing all around .
They laughed and chased each other still
And made their childhood sound .

Then suddenly , the school was gone .
We all were in a field .
The joy I felt at being there
Could hardly be concealed .

We all were young , it seemed as though
We had not aged a day .
I thought that I might just join in ;
And run , and chase , and play .

Then suddenly , I saw my girl ,
The one for which I yearn .
Just as she was so long ago .
The cause of this sojourn.

She smiled and as it is my fate ,
She had to fade away .
I then awoke , and oh so sad ;
For I had wished to stay .

I'll try again another day ,
Sometimes it works quite well .
Perhaps , someday , I won't return .
Now that's a tale to tell !

So if you hear I went to sleep
And never then awoke .
Remember what I said today ,
Or take it for a joke .

You'll sure know where I just might be .
So join me , if you dare .
I think you might enjoy yourself .
I'll wait for you back there .
